Challenging behaviour seen in people with FASD is related to the impact of prenatal alcohol exposure on brain and body development. People with FASD may have problems managing the symptoms and frustrations of living with the disorder. Behavioural problems may be triggered by a lack of understanding and appropriate supports. When people do not understand the cause of a child’s behaviour, they may blame the parenting style when they should pay more attention to areas of strengths and challenges.
